PTH 2-49

The PTH series are major, high-traffic highways. There are several levels of highway within the PTH designation, from multi-lane controlled access highways to two-lane improved gravel-surface. All are considered major highways, however.

PTH 2

PTH 2 runs essentially parallel to TCH 1 across Southern Manitoba and is often used as an alternate truck route.

Eastern Terminus: TCH 100 near PTH 3 south of Winnipeg

PTH 3

PTH 3 is a major access route for the thriving Pembina Valley economic base. It is twinned from the junction with PTH 14 to Morden.

Western Terminus: Highway 18, Saskatchewan
PTH 3 runs concurrently with other highways (PTH 18, 21, 34, 83) at several places in southwestern Manitoba.

3A: Crystal City (E) through Clearwater

PTH 4

One of the newest designated PTH routes, it forms a bypass around the north end of Selkirk. Its primary purpose is as a route for crossing the Red.

PTH 5

PTH 5 has two distinct sections: a north-south section and an east-west section. It traverses the western part of Manitoba.

5A: Dauphin

PTH 6

Easily the longest highway in the province, and the most northerly of the PTH series, this road connects Thompson to Winnipeg.

PTH 7

This north-south route is a major connector from Winnipeg to the Interlake Region. It is twinned from its southern terminus to north of its junction with PTH 67.

PTH 8

This north-south route is the primary route to the Icelandic communities on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg. It is twinned from its southern terminus to just north of its junction with PTH 27.

PTH 9

This north-south route is the primary route to Selkirk and cottages along Lake Winnipeg. It is twinned from its southern terminus to Selkirk.

PTH 10

This is the major north-south route in Western Manitoba, connecting Flin Flon to Brandon and points south.

PTH 11

PTH 12

This forms the Manitoba portion of "MOM's Route", an alternate route from Thunder Bay to Winnipeg. It is twinned from Steinbach to TCH 1.

PTH 13

Appropriately enough, this connects TCH 1 to PTH 3.

PTH 14

This highway is one of a few to boast a twinned section. It is twinned from the junction with PTH 32 to PTH 3.

PTH 15

Possibly the straightest highway in Manitoba, given its length. I have driven it a number of times and can honestly say it does not have a lot of curve to it.

PTH 17

One of only two PTH to have a gravel-surface section. The three miles at its most southerly end are gravel.

PTH 29

Possibly the shortest highway in Manitoba, it is unsigned. Less than 1 km in length, it connects I-29 to PTH 75. Primary Orientation: North-South
