The gallery is here…

Alex updated my website with a section devoted to Morden gallery images from my March show (it’s a link on the bottom right of main page).  If you want to skip over all the paintings you’ve seen before that have been on my site all along, the following art images are brand-new to my site:

  1. A table of assorted, smallish “gift” items.
  2. The “I’m really finished it this time” freshwater pearl mosaic.  I finished it by adding gold-plated brass beads to the sections that were only painted before, so it now has a more completed, carpet-like look.
  3. Stained glass angel.  Not one of my best pieces, and painted very quickly, but it did fit the theme.
  4. The goblets and the book on the right have been on my site for awhile; the other painted and decorated book box and the little sliding-door retablo are new.  Unfortunately I don’t have close-ups on hand of these two things, but I think this particular book box turned out really great.
  5. Isaac.  This photo isn’t clear enough to give an accurate depiction of the face.  Maybe I can take a few close-ups soon, to post in conjunction with the close-ups I have of Rahab and Abel already on the site’s “paintings” gallery.
  6. This canon table has been on my site for awhile, but I don’t think the frame I made for it has been shown.
  7. Abraham and the 3 visitors.
  8. An illuminated letter “O.”
  9. Christ’s commission to the apostles.  This is a pretty small canvas with a lot of detail that doesn’t quite come through in a photo.  Maybe I should actually try scanning it right into our scanner.
  10. If you were wondering what the little Apostle’s Creed illumination looked like without the chicken wire in front of it…
  11. Again, this one isn’t really new, but it’s a much more accurate photo for this round canvas, color- and detail-wise.  Actually the color for all of these photos is really close to how they actually look in the gallery.

Other general-purpose gallery images can be found on that link on the main page.  Thank you to my wonderful husband for doing so much documentation on this, helping me with set-up, and bugging people to come out and see the show already.  (He even made a cool little DVD– with a slide show, photo gallery and musical accompaniment– to send to our parents in far lands.  Our digital camera creates an interesting, 1970s sort of retro film effect when you shoot short movies with it.)

Very, very cool! All your paintings looked great! How long does a singe painting like the ones shown take you?

  2. Kelly:

That depends on a number of things… like starting it, putting it off, working on it a tiny bit, putting it off again… ;) If I just work on something straight through, for a decent amount of time each day, it can take between one day and usually no more than a week. But that’s rare (except in my “crunch” period). The deacon’s bench and the Abraham with the 3 visitors pieces were sitting around for months and even up to over a year or two before I bothered to finish them!

The painting itself doesn’t tend to take me long. Acrylic paint is the preferred medium for people who like to paint very fast, because it’s dry just minutes after hitting the canvas.

If you do get a chance to wander through the gallery, do so. It’s a great show!
