Songs I Would Love To Hear On The Radio
You know, there’s a dearth of good radio these days. You know, radio where they care about the music rather than the advertising.
Case in point: Unveiled (Sean Doty singing lead for the 77s, not to be confused with the metal band of the same name) recorded a brilliant song called “Sleep” in 2000 which I would guess probably about 250 people, ever, have heard. This sucks bigtime. It is, no word of a lie, brilliant.
Or Sufjan Stevens. In a fair and equitable world, SS would be getting tons of radio airplay with his Illinois album.
And there could always be more White Stripes on the radio. Or U2. Or Undercover. Or Havalina Rail Co. Or Danielson Famile.
Maybe the real problem is that I’m not close enough to a college radio station. Maybe I just need to podcast my own favourite musical selections once a week. I don’t know what the answer is. But, Sean Doty, if you’re out on the interweb somewhere, I challenge you to let me release “Sleep” as an MP3 download from this site so people can hear and rejoice in the musical perfection that is that song. The rest of these groups are actually pretty well known, comparatively speaking.
Alley-oop! I LOVE your site–the pic at the top is fab-oo and the wallpaper is just lovely
AND the fact that I can place
:???::grin::razz::wink::lol: all over my comments? Well that’s fantastic!
I’ve been listening to the country station recently–and liking it a lot! One new song: Pickin’ WIldflowers has a catchy tune that I can’t stop singing!

… I see you’ve started decorating your new home. Very nice.
It can be difficult to find that fun music you really enjoy just out there on the radio, hmmm? How do you find out about the music in the first place without a musical source? I’m glad that you’ve shared a lot of great music with me that I’d never have discovered otherwise.

Does Canada have anything similar to the US’s low-power FM broadcast licenses? Radio Klages would rock, literally.

LPFM licenses do exist, but they are highly regulated. I don’t have the $$$$ or the time to try such a thing. But it sounds like fun. And I just know if I started streaming audio from this site that Darrin would kick me off, so I’d best not.

Hey, we actually talked about doing a “Bannerland radio” at one point, but never got it going…

Your site is the coolest! I can only get the word “cool” to appear when I click on it. How does one get the actual faces above down to the comments? I wanted to use the cool guy(that’s you).

Marlene (aka Mom),
To get the smiley guy, just click on him. Then a word, with colons at either end, will pop into the text box. The post-processor then converts all instances of funky words to the equivalent graphic in its lookup table.
Just so you know.

Bannerland Radio? But I was under the impression that Darrin didn’t want me driving his throughput up too much or he’d have to pay more for his internet…

Thanks, Alex. You never make me feel stupid when you teach me anything I’m unfamiliar with.

Yes, I would like to find Sean Doty too. Was just chatting with Mike Roe the other day and he has not seen Sean in about 5 years. Anyone seen him out there?

GO FOR IT! : ) I am really glad you liked the song! I cant believe peeps are looking for me! LOL Im here. . . send em my way! Its funny about that song . . . I wrote it for the band and always felt it was one of the strongest things I wrote musically and lyrically . . . but they hated it . . so it sat and sat and sat for probably 6 years until I did that last solo album.
Thanks again for the interest!

No, thank you for the music! I only have Mr. Sunshine and the Unveiled album, but I have always found your songs interesting and thought-provoking.

Pushing the envelope… I’m thinking, Scaterd Few, Veil, Daniel Amos, the 77s, later Undercover, Adam Again… basically the stuff I listen to?
